This was a bull calf I kept reading about in the Canadian Digest who was taking everything before him at the shows in Canada at the time He was the top selling calf in 1995 making $92,000. Whilst I was at the World Conference at Fort Collins, USA, 1996 I had a chat with his owner, Grant Hirche. My father-in-law went on the post conference tour and managed to view Simba at the ranch and phoned me to say he was the best bull he had seen on the tour. I was fortunate to later buy a semen interest in Simba. I quickly came to the conclusion that probably the best thing behind Simba was his dam and he certainly left us tremendous daughters who are still having an impact on our herd.
